Approved Affiliate Educational Opportunities

The Cannabis Studies Short Course and Certificate Program aims to get the education you want and need to you. As a result, Roanoke College is working alongside our Affiliate Educational Opportunities (AEO) providers to create more options for learning.  Each student in the certificate path can take one class from an AEO for each level of a certificate. 

Blue Ridge Hydroponics - Monthly Grow Class

Class Description: Join us on your journey into the world of cannabis cultivation with our comprehensive Cannabis Cultivation Workshop, meticulously crafted for beginners eager to explore the art and science of growing cannabis plants, yet still detailed enough for those already experienced to learn a bit more in-depth.

Led by Paul, an esteemed expert in the field, this immersive workshop provides a solid foundation for budding growers to cultivate their knowledge and skills.

What You'll Learn:

  1. Basics of Cannabis Cultivation: Gain a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of cannabis cultivation, including plant anatomy, growth stages, and environmental requirements.
  2. Cultivation Methods: Explore different cultivation methods, such as indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse growing, and discover which approach best suits your preferences and space constraints.
  3. Seed Selection and Germination: Learn how to select high-quality cannabis seeds and master the art of germination to kickstart your growing journey with healthy seedlings.
  4. Grow Room Setup: Dive into the essentials of setting up a grow room, including lighting, ventilation, temperature, and humidity control, to create an optimal environment for your cannabis plants.
  5. Nutrient Essentials: Understand the role of essential nutrients in cannabis growth and development, and learn how to create a balanced nutrient regimen to support vigorous plant growth.
  6. Pest and Disease Management: Identify common pests and diseases that threaten cannabis crops and explore preventive measures and organic treatment options to maintain plant health.
  7. Harvesting and Drying: Learn the art of harvesting cannabis at the peak of potency and freshness, as well as proper drying and curing techniques to preserve flavor, potency, and aroma.
