The Summer Research Incentive Program is part of the overall college Summer Experience Incentive Program. The Summer Experience Incentive Program provides reduced tuition for students who enroll in individual, high-quality, experiential learning opportunities during the summer: internships as well as independent research or creative projects. Tuition for one unit of internship, research, or independent study credit under this program will be reduced to just $400 (an 80% discount).
No application is required! Any student enrolled in a qualifying course unit (internship, research, or independent study course within a department or under the ROA course code) during a summer term will automatically receive the discounted tuition.
Note that the incentive program is only meant to make these opportunities more affordable, not to create or manage them. Students pursuing an internship must still work through the usual channels (e.g., the internship coordinator in a department, or PLACE) to find those opportunities and fulfill the requirements. Students pursuing independent projects will still need to have a faculty member willing to serve as mentor, and will need to establish and fulfill any expectations set by the faculty member for the project.
