Resources for Faculty, Coaches, and Advisors
No person on campus has more influence on students' learning and development than our faculty and the students' advisors. Not only does the office of Global Engagement encourage students to consider study abroad through events and advising meetings, we also provide resources for faculty to help them promote study abroad in their classrooms. For faculty looking to globalize their CVs with teaching experiences outside the country, Global Engagement can also help faculty plan, create, and teach on a study abroad program of their own.
Don't Cancel That Class!
The Office of Global Engagement welcomes the opportunity to visit classrooms and offer study abroad presentations to your students. To book a session, there are two options: if this is planning more than two months in advance, please email your dates, class start times, and class locations to mhancock@roanoke.edu and feel free to include any additional information (expected mixture of class ranks, majors, etc.). To book a session on more short notice, please follow this link to the Global Engagement booking page and select "Study Abroad Presentation." Our calendar fills up, so plan as far in advance as you can... but if you feel a flu coming on, it's not a bad idea to take the sick day and let us educate your students about a wonderful opportunity at Roanoke College.
Study Abroad Session at Practice
The Office of Global Engagement welcomes the opportunity to visit athletics practices to discuss study abroad opportunities tailored for our student athletes. Forms and Advising Materials
Authorization for Study Abroad Transfer Credit
This form is an agreement between the Roanoke College Registrar and the student that their approved, selected courses will be transferred and recognized as substitutions for similar courses at Roanoke College. At some semester-long programs, we request the student list eight courses for approval to ensure full enrollment during registration. Students are encouraged to attach syllabi and course descriptions to this form when visiting their advisors and Department Chairs seeking approval. Courses taken for general elective credit do not require the signature of a Department Chair.
