The Roanoke College Institute for Policy and Opinion Research (IPOR) conducted its first Virginia Business Leaders Poll in which 310 CEOs of Virginia companies with sales of at least $5 million in the last year were asked a variety of questions pertaining to the local and national economy and business climate.

Nearly two-thirds of likely voters said they were very interested in the campaign, while much of the support for each major party candidate is solid.  

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has cut more than half of Democrat Hillary Clinton's lead in a month, but still trails by 7 percent among likely voters in Virginia. Libertarian Gary Johnson remained steady with 8 percent. Green Party candidate Jill Stein dropped to 1 percent, while 9 percent of voters surveyed remain undecided.

The Virginia Real Estate Index -- Inventories fall and prices rise across the Commonwealth. Central and Northern Virginia and the Tidewater show particular strength, which is driven by sellers' anticipation of higher prices. 

Virginians view on consumer sentiment is up. In political breakdowns, the RC Poll finds Democrats report considerably more optimism than Republicans.

The latest Roanoke College Poll of Virginians shows Clinton leading Trump in Virginia, with Clinton ratings improved while Trump's ratings are mostly stagnant since the last RC Poll. 

Consumers are optimistic about the condition of the Virginia real estate market, and current opinions reverse a year-long decline.

Likely presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tied in Virginia with each garnering the support of 38 percent of likely voters.

Real estate markets remain strong, but sellers are concerned rates could rise.
