Norm Fintel, Roanoke's eighth president, spearheaded significant growth at Roanoke from 1975 to 1989. The campus grew with the additions of the Bast Center, Olin Hall, the former Roanoke County Courthouse and the purchase of the Elizabeth campus. Enrollment and endowment grew as well.

Wicander earns Fulbright ETA to Spain

Kristen Wicander will be teaching English to children ages 6-12 in La Rioja, Spain. In addition, the Spanish and psychology major will be teaching social studies, science, and American culture.

Students form debate society named for Roanoke alumnus

The Fishwick Literary and Debate Society is named for John P. Fishwick, a 1937 Roanoke graduate who served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Harvard Law School. Mr. Fishwick endowed a professorship in the English department, which is held by Dr. Robert Schultz, the John P. Fishwick Professor of English.

Roanoke students earn a record five Fulbrights

Roanoke College students have earned a record number of Fulbright awards this year. Five students, all women, learned this month that they would be doing research and studying in Austria, Spain, Mexico, Germany and Scotland with the prestigious Fulbright program.
