Peter Lewis, longtime Roanoke City teacher, principal, coach and founder of an educational nonprofit for children, received the Margaret Sue Copenhaver Contribution to Education Award.

Edyth Cisneros earned a Fulbright Student Award teaching English in Mexico. She also will be working on a mini documentary series about the other side of immigration - those left behind.

This year, eight Roanoke College students were paired with eight first through fifth graders at East Salem Elementary School students as reading buddies.
