Forget Me Not, LED sign on Camera Obscura Canvas Print, 2024
What do we remember? Where do we encounter our individual and collective memories? How do we make space for that which is forgotten? In 2024-2025, the Center for Studying Structures of Race will think through a statement: Forget Me Not
During this academic year, the CSSR will celebrate the unveiling of Sandy Williams IV's Authors and Architects memorial, will formally launch the Genealogy of Slavery database, and will co-host an exhibit in Olin Hall Galleries.
Along the way, we will sponsor conversations, programs and events that produce new forms of spatial, social and aesthetic memory, that critique and engage patterns of knowledge production, and that expand the comparative contexts in which we examine race. Choose to remember. Decide to imagine. Forget Me Not.
