Inauguration Day Schedule

Roanoke College will primarily celebrate the inauguration on Friday, October 27, 2023 with the events indicated below. Unless otherwise noted, events are open to all faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, donors and our surrounding community. 

8:00 a.m.
Breakfast in Wortmann Ballroom. (Invitation only)

9:00 a.m.
Prayer service in Antrim chapel.

9:00 a.m.
Campus tours at Roselawn.

10:30 a.m.
Installation ceremony at Morris M. Cregger Center arena. (live streaming will be available) 

12:00 p.m.           
Break for lunch

1:30 p.m.         
President’s Forum: A Community Conversation on Technology, Humanity and the Role of Learning in the 21st Century at Antrim Chapel. Join President Shushok as we address issues of changing technology and higher education.

2:30 p.m.
Dean’s roundtable: Contemporary liberal arts education at Antrim Chapel. Join Dr. Kathy Wolfe, Vice President for Academic Affairs & Dean of the College as we showcase academic excellence at Roanoke.

3:30 p.m.
Athletics panel: The Future of Athletics at Roanoke at Antrim Chapel. 
Join Curtis Campbell, Director of Athletics, as we share what’s coming for athletics

4:00 p.m.
President’s tree planting at the front quadrangle. The front quad is the home of our presidential trees. Join us as we plant a tree in honor of President Shushok.

6:00 p.m.              
The eighth annual President’s Evening at Morris M. Cregger Center. (Invitation only)

The 2023-2024 academic year will present other inauguruation events outside of inauguration week such as evening lectures, the 2nd annual shindig, the science center groundbreaking, a day of service, a summit on talent, etc.
