Living on Campus
Residence Life
Room selection will be conducted on a designated day during spring semester and will be held on a first-come, first-served basis until the start of the summer session. Air-conditioned housing is available. Room keys will be issued from the Office of Residence Life on residence hall check-in day. Resident students provide their own blankets, pillows, bed linen, towels, and trash cans.
Students are expected to comply with the rules and regulations of the College as listed in the Student Handbook and the "Student Conduct Code of Roanoke College." These publications are available from the Office of Student Affairs. During the Summer Session, all conduct cases are handled by administrative hearing.
Dining
The Sutton Commons is open based on whether summer conferences or camps are in residence. Menus are posted on the Dining Services website. Meal tickets can be purchased at the Sutton Commons for individual meals at the door rate or with a Maroon card funds.
Vehicle Registration
On-campus parking is provided for all students, commuting and resident, who are qualified to operate motor vehicles in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the regulations of Roanoke College. Students must register their vehicles with the Office of Campus Safety. Upon completion of a vehicle registration card, a decal will be issued. Further information regarding motor vehicle regulations may be obtained from the Office of Campus Safety, located at 9 North College Avenue. Questions should be directed to 375-2310 (campus extension 2310).
Campus Safety
The Office of Campus Safety provides 24-hour security services to the campus community. Any accidents, criminal offenses, or security problems need to be reported immediately. Campus Safety can be reached by calling 375-2310. Red emergency phones are provided in the following buildings: Olin Hall, Miller Hall, Lucas Hall, Trout Hall, Trexler Hall, Life Science Building, Fintel Library, Alumni Gym, West Hall, and Bast Center. Yellow access/emergency phones are located outside at the main entrance to residence halls. Campus Safety also provides escorts and assistance to motorists on campus at no charge.
The "Roanoke College Annual Security Report and Campus Crime Log" is available upon request from the Admissions Office, the Campus Safety Office or at the Campus Safety webpage.
Health & Counseling Services
The Health & Counseling Services Center is closed for clinical/medical/patient care services in the summer. Non-emergency care is available at three nearby Family Practice and Immediate Care Centers.
After hours medical care is available at Lewis-Gale Medical Center Emergency Department 24 hours per day. Please call 540-776-4060 for information.
