Campus living will always be a significant part of the classic college experience, which is why the majority of our students at Roanoke College live on campus.

First-year and returning students live together in most of the residence halls. Stately fraternity and sorority houses are also located on campus where they house affiliates and friends of the organizations. With the exception of one all-female hall, the halls are co-ed by alternating floor, room/suite or wing. There are 27 residence halls on campus, five of which are designated Greek housing. 

 Living on campus offers many benefits, including:

• Greater likelihood of participation in extracurricular activities
• Higher rate of persistence to graduation 
• More available support for academic or personal concerns
• The opportunity to live in single rooms for upperclassmen (priority given to students who have earned the most academic units)
• Guaranteed housing for four years
• Digital cable in all rooms
• Air conditioning in every hall
• Laundry facilities in every hall that are pre-paid from student fees
• Lounge space and study rooms
• Kitchens on every floor in new residence halls (Chesapeake, Caldwell, Allegheny, Ritter, Elizabeth, Tabor, Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Halls)
• Close proximity to academic buildings
• Resident Advisors (RAs) who receive community-building training
• Lower student-to-RA ratio than at many other schools (18:1)
• 24-hour security
• Housekeeping services for common areas with exception of kitchen areas
• Wireless access in all common areas of residence halls; beginning Fall 2012 wireless access in all individual resident rooms
