Ms. Judith H. Hall '69
Judith B. Hall was born in Drexel Hill, PA. She later moved to Havertown, PA where she attended school through the 5th grade before moving to Millville, NJ where she stayed through high school. At Roanoke, she was a dorm counselor and a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Hall received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969 majoring in Psychology.
After graduation, Hall moved back to Millville to take care of her four younger siblings while her mother cared for Judy's ailing father in a Philadelphia hospital. A few months later, after her father's passing, she moved to New York and took a job with GenRe. GenRe was the #1 reinsurance company in the United States at that time and soon moved to be #3 world-wide. Hall began her 37-year career with GenRe as a secretary in the Personnel department and worked her way up to become Vice President for HR Systems in the Human Resources department. She retired in 2005. Hall was vital in shaping the company's culture that grew from a domestic business to an international business.
Hall is a member of the historic St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, located in the heart of New York City. Since joining in 1996, she has dedicated her life to helping others. She currently serves on the board of Crossroads Community Services, the 501(c) organization established to help care for hundreds of homeless people assisted by St. Bart's. In addition, she is the liaison between St. Bart's and the LIFE Center family shelter in lower Manhattan that houses 95 families. She runs St. Bart's annual Christmas Miracles Program that benefits over 200 children that reside at the LIFE Center with a Christmas gift of their choice and a dinner. She has also made two trips to Tanzania on behalf of the Carpenter's Kids Program that supports AIDS orphans and provides support so they can attend school. Two years ago she participated in a Habitat build in the Dominican Republic with other church members.
Hall has been a dedicated alumna to her alma mater. She has been an Associate for the past twenty-two years, a member of the 1842 Society, has served as the Chapter Chair for New York, President of the Alumni Council, was a member of the President's Advisory Board Emeritus, and has served on the Board of Trustees since 1999. She has enthusiastically supported Roanoke through her experience, resources, and true commitment to the College. Judy lives in New York City, and is passionately devoted to her two godchildren, Taeron and Teona Hamlett, who she met at the LIFE Center and who are now active members of St. Bart's.
