Are you interested in having a positive impact on campus sustainability? The Sustainability Fellow will work closely with a team of dedicated, like-minded people from the RC Sustain and the Environmental Studies Department on projects that promote campus sustainability.
Training and Mentoring
As the Sustainability Fellow you will work one-on-one with faculty in Environmental Studies and/or members of RC Sustain. You will take part in RC Sustain meetings; work to educate the campus about sustainability issues through events, tabling, and social media; and take on projects that relate to your personal interests in topics from sustainable landscaping to green energy to recycling.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates for the Sustainability Fellows Program have qualities that include:
Strong interest in energy conservation and sustainability
Self-motivated/self-starter
Dependable and reliable
Excellent organizational skills/ detail oriented
Must have a flexible schedule that you will plan out with your mentor, and be available on some early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Applying to the program begins with an online application, including the following essay questions: (1) Please explain why you are excited about becoming a Sustainability Fellow, and (2) What sustainability issue interests you most and why?
If you are chosen as a finalist, you will interview with a Sustainability Fellow mentor during a campus visit and receive a $1,000 scholarship per year.
Multiple fellowships will be awarded in each area of interest.
