ETHICS, AND LAW PRESENT AN EVENING WITH CONGRESSMAN ADAM KINZINGER
Adam Kinzinger is a former U.S. congressman, a military veteran and a vocal advocate for change
to what he calls “our toxic political system.” As a Republican, he represented Illinois for six terms in
the U.S. House of Representatives, serving on both the House Committee on Energy and Commerce
and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He also served on the committee that investigated
the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, for which some of his fellow Republicans voted to
censure him. In his farewell address to Congress in 2022, he warned Republicans and Democrats
alike about the threats of authoritarianism and factionalism on U.S. democracy.
Kinzinger is now a senior political commentator for CNN. Prior to his involvement in politics, he
served in the Air Force in Iraq, and he continues to serve as a pilot and lieutenant colonel in the
Air National Guard. Kinzinger will bring his charisma and candor to Roanoke College, where he
will recount his time in public service and his hopeful vision for the future of the country.
Kinzinger just released a book in October and this will be available for purchase at the lecture.
* The first 25 community members and 25 students to register will receive a free copy of Kinzinger's book!
