Roanoke's history students frequently find themselves traveling on College-sponsored trips, which allow them to feel immersed in their studies. Roanoke's location in history-rich Virginia is a benefit to students in this discipline. They gain greater understanding and find new contexts for their studies by traveling to places such as civil war sites, colonial Williamsburg and museums in Washington, D.C. The department also sponsors a host of travel courses, which include domestic as well as international offerings.
Students participate in role-playing experiments in many courses. They also help coordinate and implement the Department's annual History Homecoming celebrations.
