IT Checklist for New Students

CONNECT TO THE INTERNET

  • In your device's WiFi settings, select RCStudent
  • Sign in with your Roanoke College username and password

SET UP YOUR E-MAIL ON YOUR CELL PHONE

  • Download the Outlook app from the App Store or Google Play store

DOWNLOAD THE MOBILE APP

  • Have an iPhone or Android Phone? Download Navigate 360 from the App Store or Google Play store
  • Navigate 360 has everything you need: Stay on top of your academic journey with personalized support, easy appointment scheduling, and essential resources to help you manage coursework and campus life

MAKE SURE YOUR LAPTOP GAME IS STRONG

  • Make sure your laptop makes the grade with Windows 10, Mac OS, or Linux with at least a 128GB hard drive and 4 GB of RAM
  • Microsoft Office can be downloaded for free at www.roanoke.edu/softwaredownload
  • If you are in the market for a new laptop, you can purchase a recommended Lenovo or Apple model at www.roanoke.edu/laptops

GET READY TO PRINT

  • Print in the computer labs, Fintel Library, or Colket Center
  • Students are given $50 credit a year
  • To print from your phone or tablet, send your document to print@roanoke.edu and release in any lab, Fintel Library or Colket Center with your MaroonCard
  • Print from your room with a personal printer connected by a USB cable (wireless printers can be used, but it is recommended you turn off the printer when not in use)

GET YOUR TV AND OTHER DEVICES READY

PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER

  • Ensure you have a strong password and don't share it with anyone
  • Set up a strong pin on your phone and tablet
