New Student Checklist
CONNECT TO THE INTERNET
- In your device's WiFi settings, select MaroonWifi
- Sign in with your Roanoke College username and password
SET UP YOUR E-MAIL ON YOUR CELL PHONE
- Download the Outlook app from the App Store or Google Play store.
DOWNLOAD THE MOBILE APP
- Have an iPhone or Android Phone? Download Ellucian Go from the App Store or Google Play store
- Ellucian Go has it all: schedules, course registration, events, sports scores, dining menu, and even your mailbox combination
MAKE SURE YOUR LAPTOP GAME IS STRONG
- Make sure your laptop makes the grade with Windows 10, Mac OS, or Linux with at least a 128GB hard drive and 4 GB of RAM
- Microsoft Office can be downloaded for free at www.roanoke.edu/softwaredownload
- If you are in the market for a new laptop, you can purchase a recommended Lenovo or Apple model at www.roanoke.edu/laptops
GET READY TO PRINT
- Print in the computer labs, Fintel Library, or Colket Center
- Students are given $50 credit a year
- To print from your phone or tablet, send your document to print@roanoke.edu and release in any lab, Fintel Library or Colket Center with your MaroonCard
- Print from your room with a personal printer connected by a USB cable (wireless printers can be used, but it is recommended you turn off the printer when not in use)
GET YOUR TV AND OTHER DEVICES READY
- Supported Systems: Apple TV, Xbox One S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PSVita, Roku, Amazon Firestick, Nintendo 3DS
- Unsupported Systems: Google Chromecast and Personal routers
- TVs need a QAM tuner to pick up our cable TV channels, including HBO and Cinemax. Check out www.roanoke.edu/cable for more information
- Be sure to bring a coaxial cable for cable TV
- Get the WiFi key at www.roanoke.edu/WiFiKey
- Connect to MaroonTVGaming
- Enroll your device at https://forms.roanoke.edu/maroontvgaming-connect-request
PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER
- Ensure you have a strong password and don't share it with anyone
- Set up a strong pin on your phone and tablet
