The orientation program for international students begins a few days prior to the opening of school for all new students. International students arrive early on a date sent to them by both the Admissions and the International Student Services Office. The College also sponsors a campus-wide orientation that international students participate in. The spring semester orientation may be a little shorter depending upon the number of student arrivals. Please pay attention to emails from the International Student Services Office for confirmed dates.
The Roanoke College orientation includes meetings and seminars with the administration of the college, Residence Life, Student Affairs, Academic Services, Health, Fintel Library, and the business and registrar's offices. Other topics covered are culture shock, American higher education and the nuances of American culture. All meals and housing are included at no cost to the student during the orientation period. Current international students and American students with international experience serve as student mentors. Group activities and field trips in the Roanoke area are included.
Our international student handbook provides details of life and studies at Roanoke College. Incoming students will receive access to the handbook ahead of their arrival.
