DoD Actuary: Entry level job opportunity in the DoD Office of the Actuary (OACT) office. This position is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate (or soon to be graduate) that studied in an Actuarial Science program, or in a analogous program with an interest/aptitude for an actuarial career. The DoD Office of the Actuary provides actuarial expertise on all matters relating to military compensation and benefits which includes cost estimates and data analysis for legislative proposals and providing summary statistics on the beneficiary population. Local Position: The person at Craighead-Zimmerman who will be supervising a 2020 summer internship is Ms. Robin Smith. She had called with questions about hours required, paperwork, etc. She wants to start online training next week, and the student can bank hours. She is really excited to work with us, and her long-term goal is to become a regular internship placement for our program.
SEAC Scholarship: The Southeastern Actuaries Conference (SEAC) Scholarship is open to any actuarial undergraduate or graduate student residing in or attending a southeastern school (AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MD, MS, SC, NC, TN or VA). In 2019 they awarded seven scholarships totaling $3,000. The organization continues to be highly motivated to increase the interest in students pursuing the actuarial profession.
