Pre-Nursing

Available as a pre-professional program

Roanoke provides a rigorous preparation in the sciences, along with access to research opportunities. This will give you an edge in gaining admission to top-quality graduate programs across the country.

As a student in Pre-Nursing, you'll work directly with the Health Professions Advising Group (HealthPAG), which assists students interested in a variety of health fields.

What Makes Roanoke Different?

A Great Place to Pursue Medicine: As the medical hub of Southwest Virginia, the Roanoke Valley is the home of two major health care systems, a VA hospital and multiple medical schools. Students benefit from the relationships Roanoke College has cultivated with these organizations.

At Roanoke College, we're committed to your success and work to help you advance into master's programs in nursing.

Faculty advisors will support you every step of the way — from your freshman year onward. They not only help you select appropriate coursework and extracurricular activities, but also work with you to prepare for admissions testing, draft personal statements and develop strategies for professional school interviews.

Students are encouraged to volunteer and to shadow health care professionals in their chosen fields. The Roanoke Valley is a medical hub for Southwest Virginia. The region's rapidly growing medical community, including two major hospital systems, two medical schools and several free clinics, creates tremendous learning opportunities for you. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of high-level research projects on campus.

Roanoke also has a graduate school partnership with the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing that offers our students additional application advising and review from their admissions team.

We offer a pre-professional program in Pre-Nursing.
