House Sale Information
Sale Process
Sales will be throughout the summer with one house being sold at a time during predetermined time periods. See the webpage for each house to determine when the open house will be held.
Houses will be sold "as is."
Roanoke College is making no warranties about the condition of the house. There has been deferred maintenance and in some cases, there is significant repair work that will need to be completed by the buyer. A third-party inspection report will be available prior to each open house weekend.
Eligible Buyers
The College believes strongly that these houses should be owned by the Roanoke College community members. To that end, the houses will be marketed to the Roanoke community first. All current employees of Roanoke College are eligible to purchase these houses. If the houses do not sell, they will then be sold on the open market.
Purchase Price
Prior to each open house, there will be a minimum purchase price set for the house.
Bidding and Sale Process
Any bid that meets the minimum purchase price will be considered. You can submit a bid at any time during each home's open house period, ending at 5 pm on the following Monday. Once a final bid is accepted, the College and successful bidder will execute a purchase and sale agreement which will include the terms of the agreement as well as the estimated closing date.
