Stauffer discusses inflation, interest rates in CNBC interview
February 19, 2016
Dr. Robert Stauffer, a retired Roanoke College economics professor, spoke with Rick Santelli of CNBC's Squawk on the Street about what he believes are misguided concerns about low inflation.
Stauffer recently wrote an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal, stating that the Federal Reserve is not measuring inflation correctly.
During the Feb. 19 CNBC interview, Stauffer said the market can handle a 1 percent or slightly higher increase in short term interest rates.
"The costs of not normalizing interest rates are accumulating," Stauffer told Santelli, during the live interview from Roanoke's WSLS studio. "If the market can't take another quarter percent increase or so, we're delusional."
