Director of Athletics Curtis Campbell has announced the hiring of Katelyn Kaminski as the new head competition cheerleading coach.
Kaminski comes to Roanoke after being a part-time head cheer coach at ODAC opponent Ferrum College, where she was overseeing all aspects of the Panthers' cheer program. During her time at Ferrum she also served as an Admissions Counselor and the Athletic Liaison. Kaminski has also been an a special education teacher at both Drewry Mason and Ferrum Elementary schools.
"I am overly excited about the opportunity at Roanoke College to build this competition cheer program," said Kaminski. "I want to thank Curtis Campbell for the opportunity to create something really special here. I look forward to coaching and recruiting new student athletes for Roanoke College's competition cheer program."
She has previous experience helping rebuild a program after spending the 2021-22 season as the head cheer coach at Division I Radford after the program shutdown following the COVID pandemic. Kaminski has also served as the head cheer coach at Tiffin (Ohio), Webber International (Fla.) and SUNY Oswego (N.Y). She began her coaching career as an assistant cheer coach at Gannon University in Erie, Pa. in 2017.
Kaminski graduated from Elmira College in New York with a bachelors degree in political science and public affairs. As a member of the Soaring Eagles cheer program, she helped the the competition cheer team achieve a national ranking each of her four seasons, while also being a three-time All-American and the 2017 Female Athlete of the Year.
