COVID-19 Update for April 7: Telehealth expands, June events canceled
April 07, 2020
To help prevent the spread of Covid-19, Roanoke College remains open but many buildings on campus are physically closed. Before visiting an office on campus, reach out by phone or email first to determine if the building is open or staffed. As always, Campus Safety is still open and can be reached by calling (540) 375-2310.
Important Updates:
Student Health and Counseling
Twenty-six states are now allowing behavioral health services from licensed practitioners to practice beyond their state lines. These additional options allow Roanoke’s telemedicine/telehealth services to extend to more of our remote students. These services include medical and counseling visits through the end of May. (Please note, all states are not included and the list changes with varying restrictions by state.) Students may call (540) 375-2286 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to schedule an appointment or consult with a staff member in order to understand the support that is available to them. Student Health and Counseling Services remain available to all students regardless of where they are currently located, and can be reached at (540) 375-2286.
Mail Services
Effective Wednesday, April 8, the Mailroom will operate as follows:
- Monday -- Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Representatives from departments may pick up their mail at the Mailroom during this time. There will be no campus mail delivery to offices. Mail can be brought to the mailroom for processing.
- The Mailroom will also be open from noon-2:00 p.m. ONLY to accept large mailings for processing (from areas such as Admissions.)
Summer camps and conferences
Roanoke College has made the decision to cancel all events through June 30, 2020. This includes summer camps, athletic camps and conferences during the month of June. A determination on whether July camps and conferences will be held will be made by the end of April.
If you have an event scheduled in June, the Office of Community Programs can assist with rescheduling. For questions, please contact Tanya Ridpath, director of community programs, at programs@roanoke.edu or call (540) 375-2303.
