What’s on the menu? Check out Food Tracker!

This summer, the Roanoke College IT Department launched the RC Today Food Tracker.

Every day, the tracker scans the Sutton Commons menu and sends out emails to everyone who’s subscribed to track menu items. Michael Santoroski, IT’s director of web and software development, came up with the idea after his IT colleagues asked him when chicken tenders were on the menu. All of the tracker programming was done by student assistant Maui Kelley ’21.

Before the launch, IT talked to students, staff and Dining Services to get ideas for food and catchy names for items on the tracker. Examples include “Finding General Tso,” “Cheesecake Challenge,” Philly Phinder” and “Salmon Sensor.”
