Harrison Toney Qualifies for NCAA National Championship Race in 3000m Steeplechase

Waverly, Iowa - Roanoke College Track & Field standout Harrison Toney '16 qualified for the NCAA National Championship 3000m Steeplechase race on Thursday afternoon after posting a time of 9:12 to earn a spot in Saturday's finals at 1:30 p.m. EST.
Running in the first of two heats, Toney narrowly missed automatically qualifying for Saturday's final as a pack of six runners all finished the race with just 0.29 seconds separating the winner and Toney who finished sixth.
The top-five runners in each heat earned automatic spots in Saturday's race. Toney earned one of the final four spots as his time was the best among runners who finished outside the top five in each heat.
