April 11, 2023
Roanoke College Wrestling Head Coach Nate Yetzer is being recognized by his hometown with a spot in the Madison (Ohio) Athletic Hall of Fame.
Yetzer joins eight other people and a 1997 Ohio state championship team in making up the inaugural class of honorees, according to details announced in media outlets.
A graduate of Madison High School, Yetzer was a star athlete, winning a state title, earning a nationwide runner-up finish with the National High School Coaches Association and clinching five Freestyle and Greco-Roman All-America finishes.
He went on to build a career mentoring the next generation of student-athletes. That included tenures as assistant wrestling coach for Virginia Tech and head wrestling coach for Ferrum College.
He joined Roanoke College in 2020 to create its new wrestling program. The team started competing in 2021 and sent an athlete to the national championships this spring. It’s also brought home several All-ODAC Honors.
