Roanoke College to host suicide prevention, education walk

Roanoke College will host a three-mile walk on Saturday, Oct. 10 to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Out of the Darkness Walks, held in communities nationwide, raise money for the foundation's research and education programs that help to prevent suicide and advocate on state and federal levels for policies that benefit mental health services and education.
The Roanoke walk will start on the College's Back Quad and loop through many parts of campus, before ending where it begins. Participants may register as walkers, teams or virtual walkers. Registration ends at noon on Friday, Oct. 9. Registration on the day of the walk begins at 9 a.m. The walk is free for participants.

The walk is sponsored by Roanoke College, the Salem Sheriff's Office, the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Oakey's Funeral Service & Crematory.
