Watch television news coverage of Saturday's R-House's dedication by WSLS.
This Saturday, the keys to a house built largely by Roanoke College students will be given to a needy family.
For the past nine years, Roanoke College has sponsored a Habitat for Humanity house that students begin building on campus during freshman orientation in August. The home is named R-House.
R-House, now complete, will be dedicated in a special ceremony, open to the public, on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the new home's location at 1401 Chapman Ave. in Southwest Roanoke.
Homeowners Laxman and Pingala Kadariya, along with their two children and Laxman's mother, will move into the house after many hours of working alongside Roanoke students. About 170 Roanoke students volunteered at the construction site of the two-story, 1,390-square-foot home in the past few months.
