Roanoke College Students to Deliberate "Ethics and Higher Education"

Four Roanoke College students will participate in The Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges’ (VFIC) 21st annual statewide collegiate Wells Fargo Ethics Bowl on February 9-10, 2020, at the University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, VA. The Roanoke College team will compete head-to-head against other highly qualified student teams from Virginia’s 15 leading independent colleges and universities, deliberating case studies highlighting ethical dilemmas.
Members of the Roanoke College team are: Bradley Bommarito, junior; Alexa Chapman, senior; Sophia Kachur, sophomore; and Johnson Mihaly, senior. The faculty coordinator for the team is Dr. Brent Adkins, professor of philosophy.
Many notable individuals from a variety of career fields including; business, law, education, finance, journalism and others will listen to team presentations and offer reactions to the students’ presentations.
The Ethics Bowl program will commence with an opening session followed by opening sessions on Sunday afternoon, February 9. On Monday, February 10, competition resumes in the morning. The final round of competition takes place at 11:20 a.m. in the Sydnor Performance Hall in Schewel Hall. The public is invited to attend the match sessions free of charge. The winning team will be announced Monda at 12:30 p.m.. The team from Washington and Lee University took home the Batten Trophy at the 2019 Ethics Bowl.
