Roanoke College Statement on High School Student Protest Participation

At Roanoke, we encourage our students to sharpen their minds through critical thought, research and debate and to develop the knowledge and skills they'll need to live and defend a life of freedom. Roanoke College values open and ethical debate and discourse. These are part of our core values, along with living in a diverse and tolerant community. We support students' rights to protest and speak out about issues of importance to them and their communities. Doing so in a positive, legal and respectful way is an important lesson in engaged citizenship.
