Enter this year's Pitch competition with your ideas!
January 30, 2019
The Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurial Innovation is gearing up for their annual ideas contest. The Pitch provides aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to develop a business plan and present it to a panel of judges comprised of local business owners and city employees.
The winner receives at least $2,000 to help start, grow or save their venture. Second, third and fourth place winners also receive prize money
Both for-profit and non-profit business ideas as well as social innovations are welcome to enter. Unlike past years, however, entries are not being prejudged based on applications, so each applicant will have the opportunity to pitch. Food will be provided for all participants on the day of the pitch.
Students who have ideas but are unsure of what to do with them are encouraged to apply. Steve Baker, business professor and director of the center, assures students that the simple four-step application is an accessible and unintimidating process, open to all Roanoke College students.
Entries submitted by February 1 at 5 p.m. will be provided with a mentor, should the student(s) choose to do so. All entries are due by March 15 at 5 p.m. The Pitch will take place on March 22.
