Brenda Prieto-Velazquez '17 is the recipient of a gold student ADDY award for a video she did focusing on student life at Roanoke College, both extracurricular and academic.

The history and international relations major is only the second Roanoke student to be awarded a Gilman for study in Europe. 

The Student-Managed Fund (BUAD 322) has been a course offering at Roanoke College every semester since 2004. The class challenges Roanoke students to use their skills, innovation, and teamwork to responsibly grow a real investment portfolio. The initial $500,000 investment has more than doubled and is now worth more than $1,000,000.

Roanoke College is taking nominations for the 21^st annual Charles Brown award. This award is given to a Salemite who has impacted the Salem community in positive ways.

Focusing on input from students, Roanoke is once again included in one of the nation's top college guidebooks. Three academic programs were also recognized.

Readers of The Roanoker magazine chose Roanoke College for the gold award in the magazine's annual Best of Roanoke series, which appeared in its May/June issue.

The class of 2017 has nine seniors joining the Student Affairs Media Arts Hall of Fame in recognition for their creative contributions to the college. The students' names will be featured on the Garrett Student Media Lounge Wall of Fame. 

Savannah Scott '17 has accepted a Fulbright study/research award to study at the University of Technology of Vienna, Austria. Scott, who is from Huntington, N.Y., is a member of the Honors Program and a biology major, with minors in chemistry and French. She will be studying water quality in Austria from October 2017 to June 2018.

Roanoke College was one of 14 Chamber businesses with more than 100 years of membership in the regional chamber.

Roanoke senior Rebecca Hudon has been named a Rhodes Scholar finalist -- Roanoke's first Rhodes finalist in more than 100 years. She interviews with the regional Rhodes committee in Indianapolis, later this week.
