Peter Treiber ’79 and his wife, Irene, have made a generous commitment to Roanoke College that will support RC-RV, a new initiative that aims to make Roanoke the region’s most sought-after educational partner for industry, entrepreneurs and community leaders. 

A bench was placed outside the Student Affairs Office in memory of the retiree who influenced many students through her work at Roanoke College.  

The home that has housed six college presidents over more than a half century is being renamed in honor of a local family that has supported the institution for nearly 100 years.   

McConnon’s incredible support includes $20 million in donations that will allow the school to exceed its fundraising goal and build the state-of-the-art Shaun McConnon Discovery Center, a facility that will elevate science education for generations of students to come. Thanks to the generosity of John and Linda Snyder, a spruced-up Life Science Hall will be renamed for the late Dr. Bob Jenkins ’61. 

Nate Stewart ‘03 was selected after a national search and will begin in August.  

Three new endowed scholarships have been established in memory of recently deceased alumni and staff, while a fourth was created to honor the contributions of two dedicated faculty members who recently retired. 

Boswell took on the role of Young Associates Chair because he believes that alumni giving is key to student success. 

John Turbyfill ’53 and Jack Shannon ’52, part of a long legacy of Roanoke College graduates who became railroad executives, provided transformative leadership for both Norfolk Southern Corp. and their alma mater.

As the college doubles down on its No. 1 strategic goal of fostering student success and well-being, a compassionate and generous group of donors have jumped in to accelerate a host of planned initiatives aimed at helping all students flourish, including a student success center integrated into Fintel Library.  

On April 20, Roanoke College hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for the first phase of its next-generation Science Center project.
