Parks

Salem is home to many great parks where you can relax during your free time or enjoy a peaceful outdoor setting to get a little studying done.

Longwood Park
Longwood Park is just down Main Street from Roanoke College. The park hosts many events, including a summer movie series, and has large picnic shelters and a walking trail.

Lakespring Park
The gazebo offers the perfect spot for photo opps, while the pond is a popular site for feeding ducks.

You'll find a variety of activities and events happening in Salem.

Salem Red Sox
This minor league baseball team has its home stadium right across from Elizabeth Campus. Roanoke College students can get discounted admission and enjoy a night of popcorn and peanuts at the ballpark. 

Salem Fair
The Salem Fair is the largest fair in the state and has been recognized as one of the top 100 fairs and expositions in the country.

Farmers Market
Every Saturday you can find local farmers and bakers set up at the Farmers Market. It's the perfect place to buy fresh vegetables, baked goods and much more.

Olde Salem Days
Every fall, Salem hosts a premiere arts and crafts festival. Craft and artisan vendors, classic cars and food vendorspack the streets of downtown Salem for a fun-filled day that also raises funds for community service projects.
