Enrollment Tasks for Spring Start Students
Congratulations on taking the first step towards your college adventure! We're thrilled to guide you through the enrollment process and help you kickstart your academic journey.
There is a lot to complete to enroll in college. To assist you in this process we have broken it up into a series of steps. Prior to the start of each step, you'll receive an email with further information and instructions for how to complete each step.
In order to take action on these tasks, you will use your Roanoke College credentials. This will come in an email shortly after you deposit. Once you receive that email, get started by following the account set up directions below.
Account Set Up: Password Reset, MFA & Microsoft Authenticator
Reset Password
The temporary password link listed in your email expire 14 days from the date of that email.
Follow these directions to reset your password.
- Visit https://myaccount.roanoke.edu > choose “My Account”
- Enter your username (from email)
- Click the temporary password link (above) and click “Copy to Clipboard”
- Paste the temporary password into the My Account login
- Now you are in My Accounts > choose “Change Password”
- Again, paste the temporary password into the Old Password
- Create a new password utilizing the password rules listed on that website
This process will update your single sign-on credentials (SSO). This allows you to use the same set of login information across multiple Roanoke College systems.
*If the 14 day window has passed to utilize the link in your email, please call Information Technology Helpdesk at (540) 375-2225, select option #2 to speak with someone who can help you reset your password.
Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA is the first layer of Roanoke College’s security by requiring users to identify with more than your username and password.
Follow these directions to complete the MFA set up.
*Hint: when entering your preferred authentication method, use YOUR (the student's) personal cell phone or email. Authenticating to a member of your family’s information will cause challenges in the long run.
Download and Configure Microsoft Authenticator App
Roanoke College contracts with Microsoft. Students will use Microsoft 365 applications. The Microsoft Authenticator app is an additional layer of security and creates a two-step verification process for all Microsoft products.
Follow these directions to complete the Microsoft Authenticator.

Hint: We recommend breaking these tasks into smaller portions and completing them gradually rather than all at once.
Outlook
Email is the primary communication method for communicating to campus stakeholders. To ensure you are not missing any important information, follow these directions to set up your Roanoke College email on your mobile device. In addition, turn on your app notifications. This will help remind you to check your RC email account as often as necessary.

- Download “Navigate Student” from the App Store or Google Play
- Choose “Select school or institution” and type in “Roanoke College”

Health Forms

Student health records are secured in a separate system to ensure your privacy. Login with your RC username and password. There will be forms to complete and documents to upload. Once you have submitted your health forms, they are reviewed, and you will receive a notification on your Roanoke College email that you have a secure message on your student health portal notifying you if your submission is complete or any missing or incomplete information needs to be submitted. If you have any questions about this process, due to privacy, you must contact healthservices@roanoke.edu or call (540) 375-2286.
Language Placement Test
https://inquire.roanoke.edu
All students at Roanoke College complete language study through the intermediate 201 level as a part of their degree requirements. All students must complete the placement test in the language they studied in high school, even if you think you want to study a different language at RC. For further information regarding how this test is used, the test exemption criteria, and the next steps in choosing a language, visit the FAQ section of the Language Placement Test in Inquire. Completing the assessment or the exemption survey is required.
Academic Integrity Module
https://inquire.roanoke.edu
Honesty and personal integrity form the cornerstone for success at Roanoke College. To help you, a new member of the College community, understand the expectations of academic integrity, we provide you with the Academic Integrity Handbook and this module. This is not a quiz; you may consult the handbook while completing this module. Completing the required module with a passing score should take about 30 minutes.
Maroon Photo ID
https://www.roanoke.edu/uploadphoto
New students will submit a photo to be used as their Maroon Card image. Please review the photo requirements listed prior to uploading a photo. Most common reason for a photo to be rejected is a busy background. Send us your best shot and we’ll get your Maroon Card ready!
