Mathematics is a great general-purpose major! If you don't believe us, check out the links below. Here's the reason: the world is becoming increasingly technical and transient. To learn the technical aspects of your new job, you need basic mathematical reasoning skills. Employers know this and look for math majors. By "transient" we mean that you are likely to change jobs multiple times; even if you stay with the same company at the same location, the tasks you need to perform will change dramatically as the world economy continues to shift. This puts you back at the learning stage, training yourself to do new tasks. A mathematics major, bolstered by the liberal arts skills emphasized at Roanoke College, will prepare you for a successful set of careers.
