FAQ
How does it work?
Students who demonstrate high achievement and receive an endorsement from the Health Careers Advising Board are guaranteed an interview to be considered for admission into VCOM.
VCOM is a competitive medical school whose four campuses (Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana) interview only about 300 people each per year. Interviews take place with three VCOM faulty and/or administration members.
What are the requirements?
Students need an endorsement from the Health Careers Advising Board, minimum GPA of 3.5 and competitive MCAT score. They must complete at least 40 hours each of health care and community volunteer hours, and meet all other requirements for admission.
More information about the endorsement process is available from Health Careers Advising Board Chair Len Pysh.
How do I apply?
Students must apply early as VCOM employs a rolling admissions process. The medical school recommends filing before Sept. 1 for the best consideration.
Applications are accepted via the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service. Dr. Pysh can advise students through the process.
