Internships
Why Should I Do An Internship?
An internship is a short-term work experience designed to provide a useful view of work in a field which interests you. Through an internship, you'll develop valuable skills and real-world perspective while exploring future opportunities. Our students have had internships with organizations, such as Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center, Brown Edwards, Carilion, Lewis Gale, and Salem Red Sox.
How Do I Get an Internship?
PLACE staff are happy to work with you to find an internship! Individual appointments are available through Handshake and this topic is covered in a number of workshops offered to students. PLACE also sponsors a Job and Internship Fair each semester, which showcases organizations, especially local ones, that have a need for interns in a variety of majors.

The Forage is a third-party platform which hosts free, virtual experiences designed and delivered by leading global companies. Complete “bite-sized virtual work projects” that offer insight into real work experiences and provide an opportunity that may be documented on your resume.
