Shaun McConnon '66 came to realize later in life the tremendous impact Roanoke College had on him. "I had deluded myself into thinking that I was just a self-made person," says McConnon, a major force in the high-tech industry. "But the more I thought about it, the more I appreciated what Roanoke did for me. I owe a lot to that place." McConnon also founded a nonprofit organization close to Massachusetts General Hospital for Children that provides free housing for families who come from afar for medical care for their children, many of them cancer patients. Why does he feel so strongly about the nonprofit? "How could I not?" he says. "I just look at the faces of those kids."
