Fitness Center Supervisor
Overview
The Fitness Center Supervisor is a leader within the Belk Fitness Center who must show a high level of commitment to its success. The supervisor will supervise the fitness center attendants and be responsible for ensuring the safety of participants, assisting with workouts as necessary, and keeping a clean and organized facility. Though all fitness center staff members are still allowed to use the fitness center for their personal workouts, they are not permitted to do so while on shift.
Hours
- Approximately 10-12 hours per week
- Hours may vary but the fitness center opens in the morning and closes at night during the week as well as on weekends
Responsibilities
- Be on time and ready to work when scheduled and responsible as a key holder
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating fitness center attendants
- Maintain an updated inventory of fitness supplies and equipment
- Monitor the fitness center while on duty
- Check in participants as they enter the fitness center
- Record fitness center participation data
- Assist participants as requested during their exercise routines (i.e. spotting)
- Keep the fitness center clean, neat and organized which includes re-racking weights
- Notify the supervisor of any equipment or repair needs
- Ensure the safety of participants while in the fitness center
- Respond to emergency situations according to level of first responder training
- Submit timely marketing requests to the marketing manager for upcoming programs
- Attend regular Campus Recreation leadership staff meetings
- Conduct regular fitness center staff meetings
- Keep an accurate record of hours worked and submit timesheet when due
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled student in good standing
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification or willingness to become certified
- Prior knowledge related to fitness and wellness preferred
- Effective communication skills
